Untying Knots (Legolas/Gimli | G | 933 words) is a short interlude with Legolas combing Gimli's hair. It's sweet and makes me go, "Aww," so I like it. The language is very pretty too, and you can see that Legolas and Gimli's friendship is still new and fragile.

Excerpt:
"If you are trying to knot your hair into a mass of tangles," Legolas said finally, "then you are doing it nicely. If that is how you always comb your hair then I should think it would be nothing but a mass of knots and snarls, a soft nest just waiting to make a home for a rat."

Gimli stiffened visibly as he whirled to see his unexpected visitor. "Just because Dwarves don't see the need to bathe every time we wipe our arse doesn't meant that..." he began, but a soft laugh from Legolas halted his angry flow of words.

"Must you take insult to any words that pass my lips?" Legolas teased softly. He sighed as the frown remained stubbornly on Gimli's lips. "My pardon, then. I meant no insult."

Cloud Layer (Crowley/Aziraphale | G | 1,420 words) has Aziraphale and Crowley flying, though it's less fun than one might imagine. The story has a sort of beauty to it while it makes your heart ache with sorrow. It reminds me of when my art teacher talked about St. Teresa and her "exquisite agony."

Excerpt:
Frantically he beat his wings, the heavy pull of the earth dragging him back as he strained to move faster. Freezing air tore through his clothes and hair, as cold as if he was plunging into icy water. Very soon his wings ached terribly, but he was catching up. Crowley was now doll-sized above him, rather than a tiny speck. Aziraphale struggled on, hardly noticing the condensing vapour from his body swirling in the air around him. Soon his fingers were blue, and every time he blinked showers of tiny ice crystals shook themselves loose from his lashes and scattered behind him like a very small shower of snow.

A Lobotomy and Some Tights (Bender/Brian | NC17 | 3,247 words) has Bender fixing Brian's elephant lamp. There should be more Breakfast Club slash, and this story highlights that fact. It's well-written and hot. What more could a person ask for?

Excerpt:
Bender narrowed his eyes. "I'll bet you're the type whose mommy writes his name on all his tags, aren't you, Brain?" Bender sat up and dragged Brian forward before he could react, falling practically into Bender's lap while his arms circled around him, pulling at the tag on his sweater.

"Hey!" Brian yelled.

"Look at that," Bender said, his voice low and hot in Brian's ear. "Property of Brian Ralph Johnson."

Bender sat back on his elbows, his eyes almost black and partially covered by his hair. Brian didn't move, his hands on Bender's thighs, the coarse fabric of his army surplus pants rough on Brian's palms. Bender had said Claire and Andrew didn't know his friends on that Saturday when they'd had detention, but Brian had heard some interesting rumors when he'd asked around. And the fact that Bender hadn't already punched his lights out meant that they might be true.
