Childhood Steps (Eudora-Tiana | G | 362 words): Eudora and her young daughter. I think Eudora's characterization in this and her worries for Tiana are spot-on.

Excerpt:
Most girls Tiana's age had no problem believing in magic or fairy tales and things like that. Girls like Charlotte, who would do anything to fall in love with a prince and become a princess.

Paper Work (Gaara | PG13 | 2,586 words): Gaara's path to Kazekage begins with paperwork. This is so nifty! I like how Gaara finds a niche for himself in Suna via administrative paperwork and the breadcrumbs in the story for how this will eventually lead to him being Kazekage.

Excerpt:
"Over there," [the man] practically shouted, waving towards one of the huge piles of paper work. "Third pile from the door. Fill out in triplicate, sign, originals must go to T-5 in the files don't forget to sign at bottom and top."

The man seemed more to be talking to himself then Gaara, but he followed the instructions anyway. He didn't have anything better to do. It was actually depressing to watch the small man, whose name apparently was Jinzo judging by the plate over the door, keep running in and out of trying to do any work with people handing him more every five minutes. It was slowly reducing him into a shaking incoherent mess. Gaara did not consider himself empathic even after his defeat at Naruto's hand and changing his view of life. He still had trouble sharing feelings with others, but when yet another ninja was demanding that his paperwork be done immediately Gaara held out his hands.

"Give it to me." He ordered quietly. The ninja eyes went wide with fear. He shoved the papers into Gaara's hand and fled. Gaara ignored the feeling of bitterness as he turned to Jinzo. The man looked about to faint, but then again he had looked that way for a good hour. "How do you process this?"

A crazy happy look appeared on Jinzo's face and he quickly directed him to check it for mistakes, copy it, and then file it in section C.

The Sai in our Go (Akira/Hikaru | G | 3,001 words): Hikaru, Akira, and Sai's influence in the future. This is an incredibly sweet look at Hikaru and Akira in the future and how Sai still influences Hikaru (and therefore Akira). I love Hikaru wanting to share more of Sai through his Go and Akira helping him do that.

Excerpt:
Shindou pointed at the fish. His voice was soft so only Touya could hear him. "Sai loved those fish. He used to watch them all the time."

He knew it didn't make sense to Touya because no one had ever seen Sai in person before besides Shindou, and even then Shindou would pretend he didn't know Sai, but Touya simply nodded his head. "Okay. They are pretty, I suppose."

Shindou took Touya by the hand and led him to the aquarium. Touya let out a slight scoff as he didn't resist Shindou. "Shindou, what are we doing?"

"I have a thought. Tell me what you think." Shindou placed his other hand on the glass of the aquarium. "Do you think it's possible to translate the movement of these fish into a Go match?"

Shindou turned his head to glance at Touya as Touya blinked at him. "I. Shindou, what on earth are you talking about?"

Shindou's hand moved up and down to mimic the white fish in front of him. "See how this fish moves? It's elegant and simple. So beautiful. There has to be a way to incorporate it into Go."
