Between the Wars (Jace-Magnus | PG13 | 7,132 words): Magnus and Jace are captured, and they bond. This just great. It's a mini-adventure focused on the relationship between two characters who don't normally get that focus. And they should get more focus!

Excerpt:
"Take another step and I slit his throat." The man warned.

Jace curled his hands into fists, knowing he was at an impasse.

"He's lying. He needs me alive." Magnus said, voice sounding rough and strained, but still undeniably Magnus.

"Really now?" The man said, pressing the knife deeper into Magnus's skin. Jace watched as blood welled up under the blade before it started to trickle down his throat. "Would you like to test that theory?"

Jace for one didn't.

Alec would never forgive him if he let Magnus die. He wouldn't be able to forgive himself.

Joy (Jack/Stephen | G | 436 words): Stephen waits for Jack. Ah, my heart, this is such an exquisitely angsty morsel of fic.

Excerpt:
The last note rang in the air for what felt like an age, and then the audience broke the spell with its appreciation, and Stephen sank back against his seat. He'd heard finer performances certainly; music was not chief among the pleasures of Portsmouth. But the conviction in each note, however imperfect, left an ache in his chest that a more flawless execution could not have.

Inner Nature (Zuko | PG | 2,032 words): Zuko and his daemon. This is a great look at Zuko and his growth as a person via this daemon AU.

Excerpt:
"I am the Avatar's firebending teacher. I am not here to make friends," he said.

"Uncle was right. You just like being miserable."

The mention of Uncle struck like a barb to his heart. "What is your problem?!" Zuko snapped, and it came out louder than he intended. He saw a couple of glances thrown in his direction from across the temple common area, and Zuko looked away, his cheeks hot.

His daemon couldn't have been less concerned. She sat up, cleaning her whiskers. "I thought the idea for us to come here was to join the good side."

"None of them trust me."

"They will. We will just have to prove ourselves."
