Shadowhunters: Hiding From Your Home by Laziness
Hiding From Your Home (Alec/Magnus | PG13 | 13,586 words | companion piece is Mischief): Magnus acquires a Dragonstone with a dragon attached, and Alec and the dragon take a liking to each other. This is incredibly sweet, even the angsty parts manage to be sweet. The baby dragon is adorable, and Alec being part dragon and the conflicts resulting from that make me feel for him.
Excerpt:
"Wanna make a trade?" Alec asks, holding out the stone, "My stone for yours? As I understand, you'll even get your own back after a while, and I promise I'll keep refreshing the heat rune on this until then."
The dragon looks back and forth between Alec and the stone in his hand, even stretches far enough to sniff it, or maybe Alec, then looks to Magnus. After a moment, Magnus realizes Alec is looking at him too.
"What?"
"You said you'd give the Dragonstone back when you're done with it, right?"
"It'll take about a day to brew the potion, and the stone will be very slightly weaker after, but yes, I promise I'll give it back."
"How's that sound?" Alec asks, turning back to the dragon. Another moment passes before the dragon jumps up on the stone still in Alec's hand, leaving the Dragonstone behind on the table. It immediately curls up in Alec's hand and—starts purring?
"How." Magnus demands. He has spent hours trying to bargain with the dragon and Alec just. Did it. Magnus didn’t even know dragons could purr.
"I'm the oldest of four and I've been more or less running the Institute for years now. I can negotiate." Alec looks almost smug as he stands back up. The dragon wraps its tail around his wrist. "It probably helps that I'm—uhm. That I'm a Shadowhunter."
"Oh? How so?"
