A Knight's Tale: Listen by Moonwhip
Listen (Chaucer/Will | PG13 | 563 words) is Chaucer's point of view during the scene where Will is in the stocks. It sounds like Chaucer, with a poet's ability to paint a picture with a few deftly chosen words. This story is... fantastic is all I'm going to say. Because it's true, and I haven't a poet's gift with words.
Excerpt:
"Listen to me," you are yelling. "Listen to me!" But the crowd will not listen. Always, before, they have listened. They have listened and loved you. You have felt the upward stroke of their eyes on your body, your skin has heated under their scrutiny. Hearing their voices raised, you even loved them back, a little -- their beautiful and ugly faces, their wide mouths and thin lips, their smile-bared teeth.
