Some Translation Required (Spock, Kirk/Spock | G | 3,183 words): Spock has more-or-less learned how to speak Earthling. This is a really fun and funny look at how people from Earth go about things and Spock who is forced to try to explain his crew's thought processes to everyone else.

Excerpt:
Ultimately, the most frustrating thing about Earthlings was that they seemed to be single-handedly making a case for the existence of luck, Spock reflected as he watched the Carturi ships careen through the nebula, caught in their own inertial pull and burning with a sickly purple flame.

"Excellent work," Jim congratulated the crew.

Spock had long-since stopped looking to Nyota for a moment of incredulity. She was, after all, an Earthling. In fact, he was more likely to share commiseration with Dr. McCoy, which was too horrifying to contemplate and so Spock kept his glances to himself.

"Might I suggest Warp 5?" he asked instead, and Jim grinned at him brightly and said,

"Mr. Sulu, Warp 5 to keep Mr. Spock happy."

Faithful Friends (Kirk/McCoy | PG13 | 4,371 words): Jim gets injured while exploring a planet with Bones and Spock, on Christmas Eve no less. This is a really nice telling of how Jim might realize he cares for Bones and that Bones cares for him, with a bonus of Bones fussing over an injured Jim.

Excerpt:
He frowned thoughtfully at the lowered eyelids, the relaxed brows, and the curling, dark lashes. No, he decided, his self-assessment had to be wrong; if he were really that generous, he wouldn't resist Bones so much, and Bones wouldn't always seem so annoyed with him. Maybe some part of him sensed that Bones didn't need him the way he had in their early days at the academy?

That idea gave him a pang, and was followed swiftly by a flush of shame. He couldn't be a very good friend if that was really how he felt. He wasn't even sure that it was. It was just that…

His head, he noticed, was starting to throb. His leg, too. Bones had obviously bound it and splinted it somehow, but – yeah, ow. He tried to breathe deeply, but the broken ribs and punctured lung made that pretty fucking painful as well.

I should wake him up. I really should. Ow, fucking ow.

Only the Good Die Young (Pavel | PG13 | 2,528 words): Five times Pavel got annoyed because of his youth. Aw, Pavel! Pavel is adorable here although he wouldn't appreciate my saying so. And it's always fun to read about the Enterprise as friends, even when they get a bit overprotective of Chekov.

Excerpt:
"She said Gloria has the hots for me," says Pavel, slightly in awe. "Do you think - "

Hikaru is already shaking his head, even as his chuckles finally wind down. "No, man. She'll walk all over you."

"I can take care of myself!" protests Pavel.

"Yeah, but you shouldn't have to," says Hikaru easily. "That's what we're here for."

On one hand, Pavel is grateful - it is nice to know that the rest of the crew has his back. On the other hand, being protected is not the same as being respected, and what he wants is the latter.
