Service for Seven (Alfred | G | 233 words): Alfred arranges matters for Bruce when needed. This is a very sweet ficlet of Alfred caring for Bruce.

Excerpt:
It is a simple matter to arrange things, not through Mister Kent, his best friend. Nor through Miss Diana, his suitor.

The Lotus Eaters (Harley/Ivy | PG13 | 2,386 words): What happened to Harley and Ivy in the episode "A Better World." I liked getting more insight into the world of the Justice Lords and how things got to the point they were at in the episode.

Excerpt:
"Come on in - Harley?"

Ivy stared at the shaking woman in front of her as her head turned left and right, eyes impossibly wide. Harley was prone to becoming emotional, and the Joker had put the fear of God into her more than once, but this was different. Harley appeared to have lost her wits completely.

"Red," she whispered pitifully, cheeks still running with tears, "can you hide me?"

Poison Ivy wasted no time in taking Harley by the shoulder and pulling her inside, casting a wary eye into the alley before closing the door. She coaxed Harley over to the bed, unnerved when Harley curled into a fetal position and began rocking. "Harley? What - what did he do this time?"

News Flash (Wally, Clark/Bruce | G | 2,843 words): Upon learning that batman is Bruce Wayne, Wally has to recontextualize several past interactions. Ahh, this is a really funny look at Wally and Bruce interacting.

Excerpt:
"Human beings are generally impulsive. The extremely wealthy often have especially poor impulse control, after a lifetime of getting whatever they want when they want it. So one can't be too surprised that, given time alone with his boyfriend on the Watchtower, Wayne would give in to the impulse to...christen the council table."

"You don't think much of human beings, do you?" growled Superman.

"I know they tend not to be able to resist temptation," Batman said blandly, crossing his arms and meeting Superman's gaze with those creepy white lenses.

"Well, I hope he resists the temptation from now on," grumbled Flash. "He didn't seem the least bit embarrassed, but his boyfriend seemed pretty mortified. That's right, he's from Metropolis, reporter for the Planet" he exclaimed, turning to Superman. "He's written some stuff about you, right? Clark Kent--do you know him? Did you know he was dating Bruce Wayne?"

Superman looked uncomfortable. "I...don't remember reading that in the papers."

"I wonder what a guy like him did to score a billionaire boy toy," mused Flash.

"Life is full of unsolved mysteries," intoned Batman from the corner, and Superman gave him another withering glare.

Catching Winter (Justice League ensemble, Guardians ensemble | G | 20,623 words): An amnesiac Jack is found by the Justice League. This is an incredibly fun adventure, with both the Guardians and the Justice league reacting to each other. There are some SPaG issues that I found distracting in the beginning of the fic, but soon I was enjoying the fast-paced action enough that I was completely caught up in what was going on.

Excerpt:
The Guardians froze as they felt the belief magic kick in and were now perfectly visible to the Justice League.

Sandy gulp and gave shaky wave as Aster glared at North. "What was that about them not seein' us?!"

North paled. "Whoops."

Batman stepped forward glaring at the intruders, "Who are you? How did you get in here? What do you want?"

Aster raised his paws, fervently praying they'd be able to get out of this without a fight, "Easy there fella..."

North took a step forward, cutting Aster off, "We are here for Jack."

Sandy stood back as North tried to speak with Justice League his eyes fixed on Jack who stood at the back of the large room staring at all of them in confusion. Then he spotted movement in the shadows behind Jack. Narrowing his eyes Sandy peered closer until he saw a shape within the shadows. A small nightmare, its glowing eyes focused on Jack. His sand whips formed before he had time to think.

"You're not taking Jack anywhere!" Shayera yelled suddenly. She charged straight forward.

Theoretical Chemistry (Booster Gold/Ted Kord, Shining Knight/Vigilante | PG13 | 677 words): Booster admires how open Shining Knight and Vigilante are about their relationship. Ahaha, oh Booster. Cute but kind of dumb too. Actually, the whole thing's adorable.

Excerpt:
"Well I mean, from what I've seen it's tough being in a same-sex relationship in this century."

Beside him, Blue Beetle had buried his face in his hands and was shaking his head while muttering something about his lamentable inability to withstand the lure of Booster's shiny...assets.

Shining Knight and Vigilante just stared at him in mute bewilderment.

"'Fraid I don't rightly know what you're talkin' 'bout," Vigilante finally said.

New Friends (Ted-Wally | PG | 1,318 words): Ted and Wally bond over absurdities, cookies, and hijinks. Because this is totally what would happen if Ted and Wally met, complete with geek references and humor.

Excerpt:
"You're telling me that the aliens decided to blow up our planet to make way for a hyperspace bypass."

The other heroes nodded.

"Really?"

"Yes."

Beetle snickered, covering his mouth with his hand. He tried to swallow the laugh, and nearly choked on it. Seeing his teammates uncomprehending expressions set off another round of smothered chuckles.

"Finally, someone else gets it!" Flash said.

Amazons (Faith-Diana | G | 1,884 words) has Faith accidentally dropping in to the Justice League universe. Hee, the interaction between Faith and Diana is great fun. I like how blasé Faith is about everything, and it's nice to see a more care-free Diana than normal.

Excerpt:
"You ever have an invisible plane?"

"You mean like a cloaking device? No, but I wouldn't be surprised if Bruce -- er, um, Bruce, a friend -- was working on one."

"Actually, I meant invisible. Like, completely transparent."

"Who would want a completely transparent airplane?"

"Tch -- you got me. I always wondered about that."

"You know, I'm getting the feeling you might know someone like me in an alternate dimension...."

"Yeah, sorta. I don't know if I should go into it. Sometimes that whole alternate universe thing kinda freaks people out."

"Oh, tell me about it. The only one I've personally experienced was one where everything was like a comic book from Green Lantern's childhood, only it turned out to be the mental projection of a boy with a giant mutant brain. But Superman tried to explain this thing with ten different dimensions, and Earth Prime, and some crisis, and it's just, no. He seemed kind of upset that I couldn't follow it. I think there may actually be dark forces at work preventing his story from being understood."

"Dark forces are always a safe bet."

Daily Brief (ensemble | G | 100 words) is too short to summarize. But I promise it's funny, and you won't miss the minute used to read it.

Excerpt:
General notice 53:
The League is not a dating service. Please do not treat it as such. If your name has a color in it, this means you. (JLID2)

Duty (ensemble | PG | 1,002 words) is the League working out Watchtower duty. J'onn, Wally, John, Bruce, and Clark arguing over who has to take duty with Diana and Shayera is absolutely hilarious.

Excerpt:
"Is that everything?" asked Batman, his voice tinny over the comm.

"Almost," said Supes. He was staring at a date on the whiteboard. "We need one more person on the twenty-second."

"Who ... " Wally started, but then he saw the calendar and his brain caught up.

"It's a Martian holy day."

"You always say that," said Superman peevishly. J'onn stared back, mute but unwavering.

"I'm busy," said GL.

Wally went through every possible excuse. "I've got ... a date!" He stared at his calendar. The unfamiliar scribble grinned back at him: Melanie, Chez Wiz, 8pm. Melanie?

"Liar," said John, grabbing the calendar.

On the Third Day... (ensemble | G | 473 words) has Batman dropping in on Clark, J'onn, and the Kents on Christmas. Everyone is incredibly sweet, which is especially amazing for Batman.

Excerpt:
"Can it wait?" J'onn asked.

"Yes," Clark said, and tossed the next handful of corn on Batman's boots. Three hens pecked at his toes. "Come in and have a cookie," Clark said.

"I don't have time for cookies."

"My *mom's* cookies," Clark said, "not just any old cookies."

J'onn frowned. "The situation in your mind is not urgent, Batman."

"He stopped by for coffee and Christmas cookies."

A Riot of Relaxation (ensemble | G | 1,249 words) has the League discussing how they spent summer vacations as a child. It's a neat, little tidbit, and Batman's a cantankerous bastard.

Excerpt:
"We usually played baseball and basketball in the vacant lot, as long as one of the kids with a ball showed up." He leaned back in his seat, grinning. "We followed rules of a sort, but mainly it was an excuse to run around a lot and get sweaty. Then, when we were hot and tired, we'd go see if the police had opened a fire hydrant somewhere."

Wonder Woman turned from the window, brow furrowing. "What's that?"

Lantern blinked. "A hydrant? Remember last month when Luthor caused a fire to distract you and I ripped that metal plug out of the ground to get water to douse it? That was a hydrant."

Her perfect brow smoothed out. "Ah yes, I remember."

Wally's Secret (Wally | G | 479 words) has Wally as a secret virgin. I adore Wally, I really do.

Excerpt:
There's nothing wrong with it. It's not like he's a *freak* or something.

He *knows*. And it's not like he doesn't *want* to. God, does he want to. And he knows that if he just found someone he could talk to about things, about *everything*...

Random Snippet (John/Wally | PG | 372 words) has John and Wally going on a picnic. Cute and fun with a good Wally and a good John.

Excerpt:
Before they reached the river, Flash had told him everything about his junior high school, the women he'd wanted to date, the women he'd *actually* dated -- maybe -- his sixteen favorite restaurants in Central City, and...

John's head was starting to hurt.

Vault (Flash-Wonder Woman | G | 812 words) has Flash and Wonder Woman trapped inside a vault. It's really nice-- plain, old, simple "nice"-- to see these two interacting together without Wally making lewd comments.

Excerpt:
Flash is sitting tailor-style in the middle of a vaguely her-shaped clean space on the floor. His suit is nearly pristine.

Diana, on the other hand... she frowns a little more and brushes ineffectually at the grit covering her arms and uniform. "It appears so, Flash."

"Ah well. GL and the others know where we are. They'll get us out soon enough." His voice is almost perfectly even. "Right?" Almost.

Sing We Joyous, All Together (Batman/Flash, Robin | PG13 | 3,258 words) has Robin and Flash visiting Batman while he's got Chistmas Eve watch duty. This hits me for the same reason that I loved "Comfort and Joy," mainly because I spend the entire time squealing from the cuteness. Because Batman needs someone like Tim or Wally to not take him so seriously all the time. Tim and Wally are a force all their own.

Excerpt:
"Happy Christmas, Batman! Don't hit me, I'm helpless to the thrall of holiday -- uh. Hello. Oh, hey, you're Robin! Hi!" Flash sticks his hand out.

Robin, who misses *very* little, looks more than a little pole-axed, but puts his own hand out gamely, just the same. "Uh. Hi?"

Flash shakes his hand, grinning broadly, and then turns his attention back to Batman. "How come you didn't *tell* me you were having guests, man? I wouldn't have bugged you." Back to Robin. "But hey, cool! Did Bats give you the tour? I bet he only showed off the gym. He's *obsessed* with that gym."

Robin grins right back. "Hey, I *work* with the guy. You don't have to tell me."

Batman represses the powerful urge to defend the gymnasium and forces his face into something like a normal expression. He hopes.

Secrets, Societies, and Truths (ensemble | G | 1,603 words) deals in the aftermath of the episode "Secret Society," where Grodd uses mental manipulation to split up the Justice League. Because the show did not address at all in later episodes the stuff that came out here, and this very much feels like it should have been a part of the show.

Excerpt:
"It is unusual to see Superman afraid."

He opened his mouth to deny it, but realized the futility of arguing with a telepath over what he was thinking. "Yes, afraid of watching someone get hurt."

"And what if the rest of us take this chance willingly, even eagerly? You do us an injustice."

Superman stared across the canyon, automatically noting the children running along the north rim, making sure their parents were watching them. The sun inched a bit lower in the sky and J'onn floated, apparently content to wait.

"I feel selfish," Superman said.

"In what way?"

"I'm afraid that I stay in the League so that I'm not alone. I don't want to endanger anyone because I'm lonely."

A Self Apart (Wonder Woman/Hawkgirl | R | 1,838 words) is Diana musing about her situation and about Hawkgirl. This very much feels like it could fit without stretching canon and expounds on the Diana given in the show.

Excerpt:
Diana knows they think she's naive, that there's something inherently limiting about living one's life surrounded by women, and only women. They forget her age, and her strength, and her education.

Somehow, none of these things matter against the fact that she'd never exchanged words with a man until leaving Themyscira. They treat her with 'kid gloves,' and joke, and tease, and even Flash -- a man with far more bravery than sense -- is far more likely to try his wiles on the utterly uninterested (and violent) Shayera than on her.

And it's not as though she particularly *wants* Flash's attentions -- Diana has played stones with little girls more mature than him -- but... but.

All Through the Night (Bruce/Wally | PG13 | 1,363 words) is about Batman coming to terms with the revelations of the episode where the Justice League met their evil twins from a parallel universe. And my descriptions, for both the story and the episode, do not do them justice. The story is introspective without getting bogged down by inner thoughts. And the characterization of Flash in this is excellent.

Excerpt:
Flash jumped to his feet. "Geez, I was just kidding."

He loomed over him. "And I wasn't. Wally--"

"Come on, lighten up, it's not--Hey!" Flash dropped both pints to the floor with a thud. "You know my name!"

He cursed silently. That was the sort of slip he should never make. Unforgivable. He straightened himself, considered. "I researched your identity some time ago."

"Well, I don't remember giving you permission to pry into my secret identity! I mean, my not secret identity! Well, secret to you guys! --What'd you do that for?"

"Because--" Because when he'd met Flash, he'd simply been unable to accept that anyone could be so sincere and open-hearted. He'd looked at his easy grin and seen a shark baring its teeth. The thought shamed him now. "Security. I needed to know."
