Murderworld Carnival's One Star Yelp Review (Foggy/Matt | PG13 | 2,519 words): Arcade has kidnapped Foggy, and now Daredevil must face Arcade's many traps. This is a lot of fun, comic book-style shenanigans with some sweet Matt/Foggy.

Excerpt:
On the screen, Matt jolted, bringing his clubs up into a defensive position. When no attack was forthcoming, he relaxed his stance just slightly.

"I'm not in the mood for games today, Arcade!"

"Well that," Arcade sighed, "that is just too bad. Because you've got three exquisitely crafted floors to beat in my Murderworld if you want to rescue your precious Mr. Nelson. Hop to it, now. Who knows what might happen to him if you take too long?"

Matt's mouth twisted into a snarl, but he tilted his head the way he always did when trying to use his radar sense to map out a room. Then he began to stride forward.

A wall shot up in front of him, and Matt nearly faceplanted into it.

If You Had Wings (I'm Sure They'd be Beautiful) (Foggy/Matt | G | 4,801 words): Foggy shares a secret, giving Matt he courage to do the same. This is a very sweet and comforting fic (with a sprinkling of angst) of how things might have gone if Matt had told Foggy what he could do during their college years.

Excerpt:
"I didn't really daydream about waking up to find out I was special," Matt begins. The words feel clumsy on his tongue, but he hopes the honesty they carry will help them hit their mark "If anything, I suppose there were nights when I hoped I'd fall asleep and wake up more normal. Just like everybody else.:

Foggy pushes himself up from the floor, supporting his weight on his palms behind him.

"Shit, Matt. I'm sorry- I wasn't really thinking. Too many of those lime things, and-"

Matt shakes his head. He doesn't really want to get up just yet, but it feels strange to be lying down now that Foggy's no longer next to him.

"No, it's okay," he answers, taking a deep breath as he pulls himself to sit, knees bent in front of him, the tips of his socks burying their way beneath Foggy's leg without comment. "I'm just trying to explain… or… build up the courage to, maybe."

There's a faint hitch in Foggy's breath, coupled with a much more noticeable uptick in his heartbeat.

Had to learn what truth does (Candace-Matt | G | 2,791 words): Matt lets Candace know he's not dead. This is a great look at what it would be like to find out someone you thought was dead wasn't.

Excerpt:
Candace accepts an invitation for takeout and drinks with the two of them a week or two after Matt's return, vaguely hopeful that this interaction could be the one that finally brings her some peace.

Because despite the calls, Matt still hasn't given her a solid answer as to why he left, or where he's been, or why he came back.

Candace is fast running out of patience, being dragged along like this.

Romantic Things You Said While Concussed (Foggy/Matt | PG13 | 4,344 words): Matt comes back to their college dorm room with a concussion, leading to some truths to be confessed. This is sweet and funny and a nice alternate take on Foggy fidning out about Matt's past and senses.

Excerpt:
"'m tired," Matt mumbles afterwards, twisting the cap back into the half-empty water bottle and flopping back on Foggy's bed. "Foggy. Keep me awake. You promised."

He didn't, actually, but Matt's his best friend so the promise is kind of implied. He's just not sure the best way to keep it. If they were studying and trying to pull an all-nighter, he'd whap Matt with a pillow, but he's not willing to do that when Matt's all beat up.

"Come on, Matt, let's play Truth or Dare, ok? That'll keep you awake, huh?" Foggy says, taking Matt's free hand and hauling him back to a sitting position; even to his own ears his voice sounds strained.

"I don't like truth," Matt replies mulishly, and all Foggy can do is bark out a laugh.

"Yeah, buddy, I know."

"But I like you, Foggy."

Holding on (Foggy/Matt | NC17 | 3,603 words): Matt and Foggy are rebuilding their relationship, and Matt can't resist Foggy. This is a lovely bit of emotional smut with a sweet payoff.

Excerpt:
"Let's check precedence again," Foggy says at one point. "Where's the Carlson file?"

Matt knows where Foggy has put the file and wants to help him. Apparently, Foggy's question was rhetorical though. Both Matt and Foggy turn their chairs at the same time to reach the low cabinet the file rests on.

Matt's hand glides along Foggy's thigh. It's the fragment of a second. But it stretches out for Matt, having his brain circuit. The sensation of the expensive fabric against his fingers, the soft give of the flesh underneath, the tiny gasp Foggy lets out, barely audible but impossible to miss for Matt.

They both freeze. But Foggy laughs after a while. His voice takes on that tone he uses to dismiss something even though it does affect him.

...Stay out of the Kitchen (Foggy/Matt, Frank | PG13 | 2,869 words): After getting in trouble, it's up to Foggy for the rescue. This is fun with a light humor that I enjoyed.

Excerpt:
"Time to move," Daredevil barked.

"Really," Foggy hissed, thumping him with the umbrella as well. "On this of all nights?"

"Time to move," Daredevil growled again, lower. He shoved Foggy along the brick wall, toward a fire escape.

Foggy sighed and began rolling up his sleeves. "I hate this part."

Matt allowed himself a small grin. More shots fired from far above. "Cardio's a great workout," he said as he snatched the umbrella from Foggy's hand and used the hooked handle to pull down the ladder with a clang.

"We could be having perfectly safe cardio in the comfort of our own home on the couch--" Foggy began but Matt was already hoisting him up the ladder by the armpits. "--Are you bleeding?" Foggy interrupted himself.

"Not now."

"I just washed that suit!"

The Epic Highs and Lows of Being a Wingman (Foggy/Matt | G | 3,195 words): Foggy asks Matt to help him pick out a gift to impress his crush. This is cute and sweet with fun banter between Matt and Foggy.

Excerpt:
"So, it's a yes?" Foggy prompts, and Matt chuckles a laugh.

"Of course it's a yes, man," he says. "I am your wingman after all."

"And you do a great job at it," Foggy says, and Matt can't tell if it's serious or sarcastic based on tone alone.

He takes a stab at it, smirking as he defends himself: "Hey, I thought we agreed not to bring that up again."

"I am raising my hands up defensively. You said it, not me."

Matt doesn't believe in magic… But there's something magical in its own right about the way Foggy can make him laugh.

Meat Cute (Foggy/Matt | PG13 | 3,273 words): A different first meeting for Matt and Foggy where Matt's a regular at Nelson's Meats. This is a cute meet cute with an intriguing ending.

Excerpt:
"Thanks," he said, looking back up at Matt. "Um. I guess I should get going and let you enjoy your sandwich."

Foggy turned to go.

"Foggy?"

He paused.

"… Yeah?"

"Are you, um." When Foggy glanced back, it was to see Matt anxiously toying with his wallet. "I mean. Are you doing deliveries from now on, then?"

It was difficult to parse the tone in his voice. Did he want the answer to be yes? Or would he prefer to go back to getting his sandwiches delivered by Theo?

Last Choice:Last Resort (Foggy-Matt | R | 4,172 words): After Matt's final confrontation with Gwen, he finds his way to Foggy's apartment. This is a fantastic take on what happens next and what exactly is Matt and Foggy's relationship.

Excerpt:
Foggy goes quiet then too, simply watching Matt and trying to figure out Matt's play, what he's trying to do, because Matt always has a play, a plan, some way he is trying to manipulate a situation-

But No. That's a lie too. Matt would deny it if course, and Foggy would too of asked, But sometimes Murdock just does things because...well because...

Foggy shakes his head to clear that thought. It's not important right now. Right now Matt definitely has a play and Foggy has a pretty damn good bet on what it is. "That's why you're here isn't it? To force me to get rid of you. You said it yourself," Foggy huffs, letting his hands fall to his sides "you have nothing but me now, and so, here you are, trying to get rid of me too."

"Sounding a little full of yourself there Mister Nelson." Matt mocks as if his words are meant to hurt, "You don't honestly think you're that important do you?"

All According to Keikaku (Foggy/Matt, Otomo | PG13 | 4,906 words): Matt has been distracted from his work, and Otomo has a plan to get him back on track and it involves dating Foggy Nelson. This is a lot of fun and very funny, and Otomo's dry point of view reall works

Excerpt:
"So where does the DA go when he needs to unwind?: Ōtomo asked as they paused their walk, both standing to the side while Nelson fished out a water bottle he'd brought and took a sip. "Do you come here, or do you have a secret haunt somewhere else?"

Nelson laughed sharply, as though he hadn't meant to. "The DA spins in only one direction," he said, wiping his sweaty forehead with the back of his hand before capping his bottle again. "No unwinding for me, I'm afraid. Shall we?"

He motioned them forward, but Ōtomo noticed he failed to take a step himself, instead hanging back. "Are you alright, Foggy?"

Nelson blinked at him, seemingly dazed. "I just got a shiver, that's all," he said quietly, shaking his head.

He caught up to Ōtomo and kept going, a briskness to his walk that hadn't been there before. Ōtomo smiled. He looked discreetly upward and scanned the building tops until he found what he was looking for. His phone call with the DA earlier to confirm their plans hadn't gone unmissed. Master Murdock had taken the bait, and he would reach the very conclusion Ōtomo had been leading him to.

Broken If Revealed (The File It Under the Letter D Remix) (Foggy-Matt-Karen | G | 3,114 words | remix of Broken If Revealed by Elizabeth Culmer): In this remix, it's Foggy and Matt finding a folder of contingency plans that Karen's made. This is a lovely revelations fic, and the bond between Foggy, Matt, and Karen really shines.

Excerpt:
The bomb went off just as loudly and messily as Foggy had expected.

Karen was angry about the invasion of privacy, and righteously so, but Foggy didn't need Bloodhound Murdock's truth-sniffing abilities to recognize when someone was clinging to a diversion as hard as they could. He said, "I know it's no excuse, but we were trying to do something nice for you," and explained about the money; Karen deflated visibly, and consented to sit when Foggy pulled out a chair next to him.

"Well. That's all right, I guess." The color was still high in her cheeks. "Just promise you won't do it again."

Foggy did, with feeling. Matt, on the other hand, said, "Now about this folder," and flicked his fingers towards Foggy, cuing him to open it up.

Moneypenny Redux (Lupin/Fujiko | PG | 3,075 words): Fujiko confronts Lupin about their relationship. This is an interesting look at Fujiko's character and what she's looking for in life and with Lupin.

Excerpt:
"Fujiko..." Lupin breathed, momentarily startled. He quickly regained enough composure to smile grimly. "I should have expected you sooner," he said archly. "Come to admit defeat? It's not *your* fault you weren't able to grab the prize before I did."

Fujiko eyed him coldly, studying every inch of his body with a clinical air of detachment. "This restraint won't be enough," she mumbled to herself, ignoring his taunt. With her weapon still trained on him, she took another set of handcuffs and quickly secured the other wrist to the post at the foot of the bed. One look at Fujiko's clenched jaw, not to mention the oily pistol lodged firmly underneath his chin, was enough to make Lupin comply meekly with her plans.

A soft place to land (Foggy/Matt | G | 4,345 words): Matt goes with Foggy to the Nelson Family Christmas. This is a really sweet holiday fic, and I especially like the connection between Matt and Foggy's mom in it.

Excerpt:
They spent the next day, Christmas Eve, eating good food, smiling politely, dodging awkward questions from the old biddies, and being crawled on and serving as jungle gyms for Foggy's younger cousins. Foggy complained under his breath the whole time, but Matt knew that he enjoyed all the affection and familiarity as much as he did himself.

Still, Matt had to admit that he was relieved by the time the kids were packed up in their car, dead asleep, and the two of them were finally allowed to retreat to their shared bedroom.

Foggy flopped onto his old twin bed, groaning. "I swear, they get louder and more nosy every year."

Matt laughed at his friend's whining. "Yeah, I missed them too."

Candygram No. 5 (Foggy/Matt | PG13 | 2,915 words): Matt wants to confess to Foggy via a Valentine's gift, but the universe conspires against him. This is sweet and light-hearted and with just the right smidge of angst as Matt's plans keep getting foiled.

Excerpt:
"So. Lunch and dinner? I feel like you're buttering me up for something," he says. "We don't have to move back to California, do we? Because I will, but I only just unpacked my last box a few weeks ago and it's going to be a pain to pack it all up again."

"No! No, nothing like that, Foggy," insists Matt. "Seriously. I just want to spend time with you. Is that really so out of character?"

"On Valentine's Day?" Foggy points out, and his silverware clinks against his plate. "I mean, kind of."

The implication isn't lost on Matt — don't you usually have a date? — but he doesn't address it. Foggy is his date, but couching it like that out loud is a little too presumptive, even for him.

"Well, not this year."

Matt smiles his most charming smile, and it nets him a fond sigh, the kind that's normally paired with Foggy ruffling his hair.

Demythologizers (Brainy/Lyle | R | 2,581 words): How Brainy and Lyle meet. This is a really interesting version of how Lyle meets Brainy and gets invited to join The Legion contain seduction by science and also some Scrabble.

Excerpt:
     >>got a new phosphorylation sequence for you to look at

The message appears in a small comm window in the upper right hand corner of the screen. Querl lets it sit unanswered for an hour, then flexes his fingers.

     >>What makes you think I'd be interested in that?

     >>i saw you speak on cellular proteomics last year at the commons in metropolis

Querl had, in fact, been a speaker last year, but he had been in what the humans would quaintly called disguise.

Two of Us (Quark-Jadzia | G | 2,936 words): Quark's point of view on his friendship with Jadzia. This is a lovely perspective of Quark and Jadzia through his eyes over the years as their relationship grows.

Excerpt:
Commander Sisko surprised him by using blackmail, but that was nothing compared with his astonishment when the serious beauty with the spots showed up in his bar with a twinkle in her eyes and asked whether he didn't have more challenging games than Dabo in the offering. He mentioned the poker games he had added to his repertoire once the Cardassians had left, but she wasn't interested in those, either.

"Well," Quark said, "once a week, I've got a Tongo game going. But that's just for Ferengi."

"I didn't take you for a speciesist, Quark," the Trill said to him, clicking her tongue dissapprovingly, but still with that twinkle in her blue eyes, which were, now that he had the chance to look at them up close with her leaning over the bar to him, quite lovely. "Isn't there a rule of acquisition that says prejudice is bad for business?"

That was when he started to think of her as "Dax", not just "the Trill", or "the science officer." It took him a while to progress from there to "Jadzia".

Murdock on Defense (Foggy-Matt, Marci-Matt, Foggy/Marci | G | 4,603 words): After Season 3, Marci confronts Matt. This is a great showing of these three characters working out their issues and the pain they caused each other after everything that happened.

Excerpt:
"Tough shit," she says, with an icy fury that sends a tiny shiver along Matt's spine. "'Sorry' doesn't help him sleep at night. 'Sorry' doesn't give him back the two months of hell he went through worrying about you. 'Sorry' can't make this better, Matt. It can't. You think you can just hug it out over a few beers at Lantom's wake and everything will go back to the way it was?"

"No," Matt says. God, he's drowning now. "But I'd like to think we can find a way to move forward."

"How, Matt? How do things move forward when nobody knows where you've been?"

"He knows," Matt whispers, regretting the words as soon as they come out. Alea iacta est. There is no turning back from this now.

He had never believed Marci capable of shock before, but she's frozen with her hand over her mouth, her heart tumbling in her chest like a shoe in the dryer. He can almost feel her think as she pieces together the implications of what he's just said.

Foggy knows. Foggy didn't tell her. Foggy didn't think he could tell her.

Denser Still the Snow (Fraser/Kowalski/Oz | NC17 | 3,562 words): Ray finds Oz in the snow and brings him back to his and Fraser's cabin. This is a lovely atmospheric piece set during the long winter of the Arctic.

Excerpt:
"It derives from an Old English word-form meaning 'man-wolf'. Though the bite is still the most common means of transformation, many packs are familial."

"m'cousin. bimme"

Fraser nods. He gets up, walks over to the closet and digs for more blankets. Lays them on the bed.

"Are you coming, Ray? Or did you want to read?"

"Werewolf."

"I'm sure he'll still be there in a few hours. His leg wound will heal more quickly than a wound of yours would, but it's hardly instantaneous." Fraser piles logs onto the fire. He must have brought wood in earlier; there's a huge stack of it by the door.

Eventually, he gathers Ray up and takes him to bed too. Pulls him in and wraps up behind him. Both of them wrapped in fleece and wool, spooned up for warmth, facing the fire. Ray watches the werewolf sleep under his pile of blankets for a long time.

Belonging (Della-Louie-Donald | G | 4,124 words): Huey gets injured, and Donald and Della have to take him to the doctor. This is a great look at Della and her struggles with how to be a mom after she's missed so much of her children's lives.

Excerpt:
"I'll, uh… eat later. I was looking for Uncle Donald. He wasn't on the houseboat."

"Oh, he's helping Uncle Scrooge in the attic!"

"Which attic?"

"The one with no kids living in it and lotsa boxes. We're gonna see what stuff of mine is up there! I guess Uncle Scrooge kept my room the way it was for a while, but after Mrs. B. became the housekeeper, he had her pack everything up. I was just gonna go find you and your brothers to see if you wanna help!"

"Yeah… coooool… Good idea, Mom! You find Huey and Dewey, and I'll go straight up to the attic…" He inched his way to the left as he spoke, and she knew he was going to turn and run for it – as much as he hated running – as soon as he was done speaking. It was like he was trying to hide his left side from her… and wasn't his mosquito bite from the night before on his left shin? The bite that got so puffy so quickly?

"How's your mosquito bite, by the way?" she asked just as he turned.
