Real Men Eat Quiche (Enterprise-D ensemble | G | 2,157 words): What happens when the replicators on-board the Enterprise-D will only dispense quiche. This is a fun story and feels like it could be the B-plot of an episode.

Excerpt:
"Geordi, I'm afraid something is wrong with my replicator." Picard peered at the machine. "I asked for tea. Three times. But it only gave me..."

"A slice of quiche?" Picard raised an eyebrow at the wall, wondering if the Lieutenant Commander was reading his mind.

"Three, actually. But yes. How did you know?" He strode back to his desk and sat down, listening to LaForge shout something to one of his engineering staff and then return his attention to the still-open commlink.

"We've been having the same problem all over the ship. Every replicator. No matter what anyone asks for, it just dispenses quiche. On china plates. With a..."

"Quite attractive pattern of chrysanthemums painted on?" said Picard drolly.

You made an impression (i still feel the bruise) (Foggy-Matt | G | 2,491 words): Matt and loneliness during the early days of his friendship with Foggy. This is very sweet for the look at the budding relationship between these two and how it'll be a life-long one for them.

Excerpt:
"So I, um, I'm heading out. I—" he pats at Matt's shoulder. It's almost comical how awkwardly the touch lands. Foggy's never been shy with physical affection. Matt never realized how long he'd gone without touch until Foggy started doling out hugs and casual touches days into their acquaintance. It was almost too much at first, can still sometimes boarder on too much, but Matt finds he misses it too when he goes without these days.

The Simple Joys of Husbandry (Gus/Shawn | G | 2,032 words): Gus needs Shawn to be his fake husband for a week. This is just lots of Psych-style fun with the additional of feelings.

Excerpt:
"I'm applying bridal magic to this trip!" Shawn said. "I'm carrying you romantically over the threshold, because we were denied a honeymoon when we were first married due to a tragic nail gun accident."

"That is not the backstory we worked out," Gus said, tucking his face into the lee of Shawn's neck. Hmm, this felt good. Why did this feel so good?

The Great Cinnamon Incident (Foggy/Matt, Karen | G | 1,193 words): Karen decorates the office for Christmas. This is a cute bit of holiday fluff.

Excerpt:
"Karen decorated," Foggy says, falsely bright. "For Christmas."

"It's not even Thanksgiving," Matt observes.

"No kidding."

Karen's eyes roll so hard Matt must be able to hear it, Foggy thinks. "This whole office reeked of clinical depression."

"And somehow plastic pine boughs and tinsel are supposed to help with that?" Foggy asks.

Matt laughs, a bit nasally after the Great Cinnamon Incident.

"Just for that," Karen mutters, "I'm not telling you where I'm hiding the mistletoe."

More Than Just Ink on a Napkin (Foggy-Karen-Matt | G | 1,981 words): Foggy, Matt, and Karen celebrate in the wake of Season 3. This is a really great moment of friendship and the three of them clearing the air between them.

Excerpt:
Foggy gets them more beer. They play pool, and the bar is empty enough that even Matt risks playing a round. A song comes on that Karen likes, and she grabs Matt's hand and drags him out to clear piece of floor to dance until Josie yells at them ("This place look like a nightclub?" "Such a cruel question to ask a blind man, Josie." "Don't sass me, kid."). Another song comes on—one that Foggy likes—and he indulges in a little off-key pool cue karaoke until Matt and Karen beg him to stop ("Still tone-deaf as ever, Nelson." "All just part of my boyish charm, Murdock.").

And they laugh, the three of them, and Foggy's heart swells—he's missed this so much, he'd keep them together here like this forever if he could. They're already a sheet and a half to the wind, but they don't care; they pool more of their cash and send it with Karen to the bar for more libations.

Bleeding Through (Foggy/Matt | PG13 | 1,925 words): Foggy learns what truly forgiving Matt looks like. This is a really beautiful exploration about the meaning of forgiveness and what that means via the end of Defenders. There's so many emotions in this and such a desire for Matt and Foggy to have the other present in their life, and ir all just makes me melt.

Excerpt:
He just couldn't see until the other night that he'd only forgiven Matt on his terms. I forgive you but only if… that isn't forgiveness. That's what any lawyer knows is called conditions. Their patched up and still shaky post breakup friendship is conditional on Matt not being Daredevil.

Of course, he only realized this at the eleventh hour when he brought the Daredevil suit to the police station and gave it to Matt because he finally got that Daredevil is Matt and that forgiving him, really forgiving him, means forgiving Daredevil too. It means letting Matt be whoever he needs to be and finding a way to be okay with it, to trust Matt to do the right thing.

That isn't easy to do when you've been questioning the basis of a friendship that's spanned practically Foggy's entire adult life, not to mention a short-lived relationship that Foggy closed the door on the same day he walked out of Nelson & Murdock. But something he's come to realize lately is that what he's really questioning is Matt's attitude towards him.

Talking To The Moon (Sokka-Toph | G | 2,444 words): Toph finds Sokka seemingly talking to himself one night. This is a lovely look at Toph and Sokka being friends and dealing with Sokka's grief over Yue.

Excerpt:
"Yeah," Toph interrupted, her tone automatically mocking. "'Mostly stuff about your relationship with your boomerang. Oh—and something about missing someone." She laughed. It was almost a habit of hers to mockingly laugh away any emotion she didn't like. She wasn't sure why. "Do you usually talk to yourself like that?" she continued to tease. "Tell yourself you miss you? I didn't realize you liked yourself so much."

It was a horrible quip, she knew. But her pride refused to let her simply admit to him the truth. So she laughed again. But instead of defending himself, or sputtering ridiculously, like she had expected, Sokka was uncharacteristically silent—even looking away.

Suddenly, Toph felt a little bad. Why did she have to do that? He was obviously already upset . She bit her lip uncomfortably and groped in her mind uncertainly for something to do. Like making a break for it while she still could and heading back to bed. But then, completely against everything her mind was yelling at her, she slowly lowered herself onto the ground, legs crossed and, after a moment, hesitantly managed to ask, "Sokka, what's wrong?"

Above the Dead City (Frodo-Sam | G | 1,584 words): A missing scene between Frodo and Sam about Frodo being drawn towards Minas Morgul. It's lovely and angsty and a good look at what being the Ringbearer was like for Frodo.

Excerpt:
"Mr. Frodo?" Sam's rough voice cut through the night air like a whistle, or so it seemed to Frodo. The ringwraith and its winged beast had already vanished from sight, but the footsteps of orcs thundered beneath the hiding place where the hobbits huddled on the first steps of the Stair.

Frodo remained hunched with his back pressed to cold stone as the wound on his shoulder throbbed. He kept his head bowed and his eyes squeezed shut. The weight of the Ring hung heavy around his neck—heavier, somehow, than it had been before.

A Handprint On My Heart (Matt-Foggy's mom | G | 1,941 words): A 5+1 things style fic where Foggy's mom acts as a mom to Matt. This is full of wonderful family comfort.

Excerpt:
'Matt!'

Anna approaches Matt loudly as he finishes hanging up his coat and cane. After three holidays (and three weeks of summer) spent at the Nelson's, he's pretty much got the layout of the house memorised. The fact they never move their furniture also helps.

She puts a hand on his shoulder so he knows she's there, then pulls him into a gentle hug when he doesn't flinch or move back.

Matt returns it without hesitation. It's almost natural by now.

Stitched Together (Foggy/Matt | G | 2,002 words): Matt has a present for Foggy. This is a really sweet take on them confessing their feelings.

Excerpt:
"Cool. I know I said you don't need to do anything with your stupid good looks, but if you want to freshen up or something be my guest," Foggy said, gesturing toward the bathroom. He was probably going to switch out his own work clothes for a better jacket and a more festive tie.

And it was like Matt had been waiting for permission because his face brightened and he took off across the room. To Foggy's surprise, he went immediately for the tree and bent down to retrieve one of the packages under it. Foggy hadn't even noticed it wasn't one of his, Matt must have snuck it down there earlier in the week.

"I wanted to give you this before everyone else got here," Matt said, returning to Foggy's side with the package extended toward him. The look on his face was still determined and soft, but there was a hint of nerves in it, too.

I swear (hold steady) (Jason Todd | PG13 | 2,036 words): Eliot hires Jason to help at the brewpub. This is a lot of fun, especially seeing Hardison and Parker's reactions to Jason.

Excerpt:
And okay, Alec does his best not to stereotype, but he’d definitely been expecting some string bean of a fellow looking anxious — not a wall of muscle (seriously, his shoulders might be wider than Eliot’s!) in a leather jacket scowling at him with a shock of white in otherwise dark hair.

“Jesus?” Alec asks — using the Spanish pronunciation because he’s not an idiot — and trying to smile.

“I go by Jay,” and again, Alec is trying not to stereotype but he had maybe still been expecting that if there was a thick accent it was going to be Spanish not…not, what was that, New Jersey?

Storm (Leonardo/Usagi | G | 1,844 words): Leonardo becomes ill while visiting Usagi. This is a lovely introspective piece as Usagi contemplates his relationship with Leonardo and their history in between worrying over Leonardo.

Excerpt:
Leonardo had agreed to visit Usagi so that they could enjoy the last moments of autumn together, for the season was the turtle's favourite. At first their time together had been enjoyable, enjoying the conversations that naturally flowed between them and the comfortable silences they shared. The early snow, and subsequent blizzard, had turned their gratifying excursion into a frantic race to reach the Geshu province.

To make matters worse, along the way Leonardo's cold-blood had betrayed the turtle, causing him to quickly develop a chill, which soon developed to a cough. The turtle's voice, which in normal circumstances was already quiet, had become a whisper. They both knew, though neither of them said it aloud, that if Leonardo did not receive some medical attention soon, things would turn even direr for the turtle.

Summer loving (Foggy/Matt | PG13 | 1,004 words): Matt and the summer heat, not a love match. This is delightfully funny, between Matt's attitude and Foggy's point of view of Matt's attitude.

Excerpt:
July in particular was Matt's kryptonite. Matt in July barely got out of public view before he threw his jacket and tie off like they burned him. He started loosening them in doorways. If they didn't live in the land of broken glass, tetanus, and hepatitis, Foggy was pretty sure Matt in July would shun any and all forms of footwear. Once they were off, he would only put on them back on under duress.

He'd rearrange furniture and displace rugs to find the optimal cold floor-space. He developed a scary sixth sense for windows and wrenched them open indiscriminately, sometimes ignoring their locks. He'd said things like "Satan would burn in this hellhole" or "I hate this fucking kitchen," as if he wouldn't throw himself off the balcony if a rat in Hell's Kitchen so much as sneezed.

Scenes from the Sea (Dory-Marlin-Nemo | G | 1,501 words): Dory, Marlin, and Nemo forming a family after the first movie. This is very cute and a lovely look at these three after the movie.

Excerpt:
"Marlin? That's a--" A swarm of memories flashed through her mind: befriending sharks, a sole light in the cold dark, racing through jellies, riding the current, nearly being eaten by a whale, nearly being eaten by seagulls. Returning Nemo to his father. Accompanying them both to their home. To her home. "Marlin! You're back! I remember now."

"Then maybe you can tell me what you're doing so far from home." Now that she remembered him, Dory could tell he'd been worried about her. Marlin did tend to get angry when he was worried. He didn't like not being in control of everything very much.

"I didn't mean to," Dory explained as they swam back toward--she hoped--a familiar part of the reef. "It's just you'd been gone so long, and you know how bad my memory gets when you're not around."

Marlin sighed, and she could see in the set of his fins that he was no longer mad at her. "You've been doing so much better, even when you go to visit Bruce.... I thought you'd be all right for a few days."

Dory shrugged, unconcerned; remembering more than a minute or two at a time was still something of a novelty to her. As far as she could remember, anyway. "I guess it still wears off, it just takes longer."

Tabloid Romance (Foggy/Matt | PG13 | 1,493 words | sequel to Along Came a Spider): Matt finds out that Daredevil and She-Hulk have been in the tabloids. I think this works well on a meta level for Matt's appearance in She-Hulk, and it's fun seeing Matt's reaction to the rumors.

Excerpt:
Foggy studied him for a moment, then put the ice cream away and gently nudged him toward the bedroom. "You get out of your bondage gear, and I'll explain everything."

Matt let himself be nudged, stripping out of the Daredevil suit as Foggy sat down on the bed. "First off, you do know She-Hulk. It's Jennifer Walters."

Matt stopped at that, Foggy's t-shirt still in his hand. "Jennifer? I ran into her during that thing with Luke Jacobsen. I thought that was for one of her cases."

Foggy made one of his "oh, you poor sweet himbo" noises (named such after a direct quote from Foggy). "You didn't pick up the fact that she was bigger? And can now throw guys through a wall?"

Matt shrugged, pulling on the shirt before retrieving his wedding ring from the drawer. "She said something about an accident, but that doesn't make me immediately jump to her naming herself She-Hulk."

Map of You (Foggy/Matt | PG13 | 1,009 words | sequel to Shadows and Light, sequel is Along Came a Spider): Matt studies Foggy at night. Sweet, sleepy cuddles are my jam and my weakness, and these are some great sweet, sleepy cuddles.

Excerpt:
Matt traced the edges of the barely raised skin, startled to realize that there was a pattern to it. He followed all the edges around, trying to organize them into an actual shape in his head – this portion was circular, but there was a definite opening at the top….

He was distracted enough that it took him a second to realize that the rhythm of Foggy's breathing had changed from sleep to wakefulness. "I take it you found the tattoo," Foggy said drowsily, not lifting his head from Matt's chest. "Do I dare ask how? Because I could swear the skin doesn't feel any different there, but you would know better than anyone."

Shadows and Light (Foggy/Matt | PG13 | 1,128 words | sequel to Hymn, sequel is Map of You): Matt comes back from patrol. Matt is at some of his angsty, introspective best here, and Foggy's clear love is a balm.

Excerpt:
As if he'd heard the thought, Foggy's heartbeat sped up just enough to make it clear he was waking up. Matt froze at the faint sounds of movement coming from the bedroom, then scrambled to get the suit back out of sight. Far too soon, he heard footsteps. "Matt?"

"Sorry." Closing the trunk lid a little too quickly not to be obvious, Matt hurried to the sink to rinse off the washcloth. "Didn't mean to wake you."

"It's the empty spot in the bed that usually does that." His voice was a little too agreeable, which usually meant that he was busy reading Matt like a book. "Decided to do a little midnight cleaning?"

Hymn (Foggy/Matt, Father Lantom | G | 1,374 words | sequel to Gifts, sequel is Shadows and Light): Foggy meets Father Lantom. This is a sweet fic; I like how clearly Father Lantom and Foggy both care for Matt and want the best for him.

Excerpt:
They both turned at the sound of the new voice, which belonged to an older man wearing a priest's collar and the kind-but-knowing expression that on teachers always meant that they could see right through you but thought you were worth something anyway. The priest smiled, holding out his hand. "I'm Father Lantom. You must be Foggy."

It took Foggy a second to collect himself. "That I am." Giving Matt a firm nudge to the side for not warning him someone was coming – that little smile probably meant he'd known exactly what he was doing – Foggy shook the priest's hand. "Matt's told me a lot about you."

"Now, I can't quite believe that. In my experience, Matt doesn't say much about anyone." Father Lantom shot Matt a wryly amused look.

Gifts (Foggy/Matt | PG13 | 1,899 words | sequel to Patching Up, sequel is Hymn): Foggy finds the bracelet Matt made for Stick. Ah, I love the emotional vulnerability in this work and how careful Foggy is not to hurt Matt because he knows how precious that vulnerability is.

Excerpt:
Foggy just huffed at him, his attention caught by what looked like a braided bracelet sitting in the far back corner of one of the counters. He picked it up, realizing that it was apparently made of ice cream wrappers, then turned back to Matt. "What's this?" he asked, holding it up so it would be easier for him to "see" it. "Are you dabbling in arts and crafts now?"

Matt's face instantly went pale. "No, I—" He stopped, shaking his head. "It's junk. I keep meaning to throw it away."

Carefully, Foggy set it back down on the counter, pushing it back into the same far corner where it had been hiding. "Yeah, I don't think so," he said quietly. "Junk wouldn't put that look on your face."

Matt was about to say something else, then cut himself off again. His brow lowered. "You know, you really shouldn't have been mad about the whole heartbeat thing. You read me too well even without it."

Little Things (Huey, Scrooge | G | 1,643 words): Scrooge has a conversation with Huey while Huey's making breakfast. This is a lovely bit of family feels with Scrooge learning more about what things have been like for his nephew and grand-nephews before he was a part of their lives.

Excerpt:
"And well, he kind of does everything. Anything. It can be, um. It can be kind of hard for him to hold down a job."

"His temper?" Huey refocused on his task, heating up a pan on the stove for hash browns. The sizzle of the pan forced him to raise his voice, though he still spoke cautiously. "Sometimes," he said. "Sometimes the work is just temporary, sometimes it's just because he's the junior employee, and when the company cuts, he's the first one to go. It's not his fault."

"Of course it isn't," Scrooge was quick to validate that. Temper aside, Donald was a hard worker and a fast learner. And, also, the victim of many unfortunate circumstances.

Huey was, at the moment, soaking the hash browns oil and somehow also burning the edges black. Scrooge stood and and came up behind him. "Give me the spatula, lad. Go add a pinch of garlic salt to those eggs."
